Opening Sequence, Shot-by-Shot Description

SHOT 1

MUSIC: (instrumental)

A trio of SkyStrikers soars under the daytime clouds as explosions mark the air.

SHOT 2

MUSIC: (instrumental)

The Joe team's leader sends his troops into battle.

DUKE

Yo Joe!

SHOT 3

MUSIC: (instrumental)

The SkyStrikers fly past as tanks roll in the distance. One of the planes is followed by Airborne on a Falcon Glider.

SHOT 4

MUSIC: He'll fight for

On the ground, Clutch and Grand Slam drive by in a VAMP, followed closely by a MOBAT.

SHOT 5

MUSIC: freedom wherever there's trouble.

G. I. Joe's front-line fighters prepare to press forward while the ground rocks with explosions: Zap, Rock 'n Roll, Scarlett, Breaker, Duke, Steeler, and Gung-Ho. Stalker lands in their midst wearing a jet pack.

SHOT 6

MUSIC: G. I. Joe is there.

Duke points forward (toward camera), and the Joes charge. Another SkyStriker flies overhead.

SHOT 7

MUSIC: G. I. Joe! (a real American hero!)

Red, white, and blue stripes thin and rotate to reveal the familiar G. I. Joe logo.

SHOT 8

MUSIC: G. I. Joe is there!

APCs pass on either side with Clutch and Grand Slam's VAMP taking up the middle. As they approach, the Joe logo on the VAMP's bumper fills the screen.

SHOT 9

MUSIC: It's G. I. Joe against Cobra and Destro

Hundreds of Cobra troops and their HISS tanks stand ready in front of a fortress whose walls bear a passing resemblance to G. I. Joe Headquarters. Pan right to reveal Cobra Commander and Destro among them.

SHOT 10

MUSIC: fighting to save

The Cobra leaders look toward the Joes with menacing expressions (presumably--the Commander's face is hidden, of course).

SHOT 11

MUSIC: the day! He never gives up;

Snake Eyes, Stalker, Gung-Ho, and Scarlett lead the infantry as three Dragonflies provide cover in the now smoke-filled sky. Flash then whizzes by on a RAM motorcycle, alongside a VAMP. Airborne's Falcon Glider makes another appearance just as a MOBAT rolls over the hill.

SHOT 12

MUSIC: He's always there,

A greenshirt (possibly Cover Girl in a helmet) fires the missiles of a Wolverine. The outer perimeter of Cobra's stronghold is visible in the background, set afire and emitting flames and smoke..

SHOTS 13-15

MUSIC: fighting for freedom over land and air! G. I. Joe

Cobra Commander and Destro assess the damage and are forced to flee as Stalker swoops in on his jetpack. His low pass sends Cobra troops to the ground.

SHOTS 16-17

MUSIC: (a real American hero!) G. I. Joe is there!

Stalker flies high over the fortress and tosses out a bundle of dynamite, which he then blasts from a distance with his weapon.

SHOT 18

MUSIC: G. I. Joe is the

Peaceful establishing shot of Joe HQ, a vast, grey metal establishment with a red stripe near the top. A fixed central cannon is the most noticeable feature.

SHOT 19

MUSIC: code name for America's

In the Joes' training center, Gung-Ho is lifting enormous weights sans vest, while Steeler and Rock 'n Roll practice hand-to-hand combat. .

SHOT 20

MUSIC: daring, highly trained

In a target practice area, Flash fires his laser at a slab of metal, which melts at the beam's heat.

SHOT 21

MUSIC: special mission force. Its purpose:

Stalker somersaults his way through a complex system of suspended metal bars as though he were an Olympic gymnast.

SHOT 22

MUSIC: to defend human freedom against

Airborne in his Falcon Glider avoids enemy fire over the smoky cityscape, followed by three Dragonflies.

SHOT 23

MUSIC: Cobra, a ruthless terrorist organization

Destro and Major Bludd lead the remaining Cobra troops, having not even had the opportunity to board their HISS tanks. Overhead, Cobra Commander brings some FANG helicopters into the battle.

SHOT 24

MUSIC: determined to rule the world. He never gives up, he'll stay till the fight's won. G. I. Joe will dare!

The Commander desperately evades the Dragonflies only to take a shot in the engine from Airborne. He jumps out and parachutes to safety.

SHOT 25

MUSIC: G. I. Joe (a real American hero!)

On the ground, Destro orders retreat, and Major Bludd reluctantly follows, narrowly escaping a crashing FANG.

SHOT 26

MUSIC: G. I. Joe!

Joe team members take their stand and raise their arms in victory in front of a US flag background, as the Joe logo rises underneath them. They are: Gung-Ho, Clutch, Rock 'n Roll, Flash, Stalker, Duke, Scarlett, Snake Eyes, Steeler, Zap, Cover Girl, and Tripwire.
