That's because they have no restrictions on experimentation...and no lack of volunteers. I was to be the first of a squadron of amphibious commandos, Cobra soldiers who could breathe both air and water. The conversion process involved altering the genetic code of certain cells in my body. But something went wrong.

The following weeks were a nightmare as my body adjusted to its new condition. The doctors promised to reverse the procedure, but they were lying.

They wanted to keep me and study me like some laboratory specimen. I am not amphibious. I can't survive out of water for more than a few minutes. And that's why I escaped--to look for help.

We have to blow this joint and fast. Cobra's after her and they won't quit 'til they get her back.

I can rig something up so she can travel out of water.

I think we've done it. Wearing this apparatus, she can walk on land. The tank of air will keep the water in her helmet properly oxygenated. But it's heavy. Fifteen minutes of air is about all she can carry.
